Cimolai is a major steel manufacturer in Italy and abroad highly specialized in manufacturing bridges and viaducts, industrial and civil buildings, military infrastructures, normal and special plate girders for the off-shores and ship building industries, stainless steel bulkheads for chemical tankers polygonal and cylindrical poles for telecommunication and power lines, pipes of great diameter and wall thickness and ship hulls.
50% of the total production for 2007 (approximately 70 000 tonnes of fabricated steel)was exported abroad.
Highly automated machinery are employed in the fabrication process and in particular Cimolai has got the following machinery:
- Numerically controlled machinery for oxy cutting utilizing the oxy - propane or plasma technology.
- Numerically controlled drilling machines for plates and sections (maximum dimension 3 200 mm)
- Special mechanical work on heavy steel structures.
- Automatic and semi-automatic submerged arc welding plant.
- Bending and rolling plant.

- Qualification of the manufacturer for welding steel structures according to DIN 18800 - 7: 2002-09 Class D
- Welding Management Scheme UNI EN ISO 3834-2 (Doc. EWF 636 - Part 1)
- Use of API Monogram API Spec 5L and API Spec 2B
- Register of qualified steelwork contractors (RQSC)
